The Patras Innovation Hub – Patras Inno Hub (www.corallia.org/patras-innohub) is a structure for the development and support of clusters in Western Greece, its purpose being the thematic and geographical concentration of mi-Cluster (www.mi-cluster.gr) members and the development of important value chains with other significant economic activities in the region of Western Greece, as well as global value chains. More specifically, the project has developed a suitably equipped one-stop-shop infrastructure which, through its operation, makes a substantial contribution to the development of the Region of Western Greece by:
- creating strong networks between individuals and enterprises/agencies
- invigorating industrial activity
- enhancing research, innovation and technologies
- invigorating exports
- increasing the competitiveness of enterprises and their products
- attracting enterprises and talented individuals
- upgrading production processes
- attracting direct foreign investments
- transitioning to a model of 'high added value' services that can compete on equal footing in a globalised setting.
The infrastructure was constructed through a particularly innovative public-private partnership that resulted in the StateΆs minimal investment in the construction of the infrastructure so that available funds could be invested in the development of human resources.
Currently, the infrastructure:
- actively serves mi-Cluster members in Western Greece: Accusonus, Analogies, Bluedev, Citrix (former Bytemobile), Dialog, Diaplous, Digital Sky, Dynesys, Econais, Infisensis, Intracom, Irida, Samsung (former Nanoradio), Noesis, Sciensis, ThinkSilicon, Thyratron, R.C. Athena/ISI, Upatras/APELab, Upatras/WCLab, Upatras/ELLab, Upatras VLSILab, Upatras/Comes Lab, Upatras/HPCLab, Upatras/Comsystems Lab, Upatras/Micro Lab, TEI Messolonghi/Tesyd, TEI Patra, as well as any party interested in the thematic area or clusters;
- fully houses 6 enterprises, three of which are established and internationally recognised companies (Samsung, Citrix, Analogies) and three are high-tech start-ups;
- operates an exhibition area for all products of mi-Cluster enterprises, fully equipped meeting rooms with teleconferencing systems, as well as a catered area for the organisation of events.
The joint housing of companies has tangible advantages, strengthening the value/production chains of the ecosystem, increasing individual commercial partnerships among them and promoting joint research and development activities. The operation of the infrastructure has contributed to the creation of a positive image for the Region of Western Greece and for Patras, in particular, strengthening its profile as a city that is hospitable and suitable for the further development of high-tech entrepreneurship
