ALEXELION is a new product that covers in an innovative manner a gap in personal protection from solar radiation. Medical research has proven that the sun has a significant impact on skin health with conditions such as premature aging or melanoma. ALEXELION combines real environmental data and the personal characteristics of users to create a personalised indicator of the risk of exposure to solar radiation.

This is a device with smart indications for protection from solar radiation. It functions on two levels: (a) through a sensor device that measures solar radiation and (b) through an application for smartphones or tablets that processes the figures of the sensor device and records the characteristics of the user. ALEXELION produces a personalised indicator of solar risk, depending on the user of the application and the environment where the user is located.

Q base R&D is taking action to draw further funds so that ALEXELION can turn to the markets, primarily in the fields of: (a) business development, (b) marketing and (c) industrial design. A series of contacts in New York laid the initial foundations towards a future partnership with the New York University Medical Centre for the necessary clinical trials that must be conducted before ALEXELION can be commercially exploited.

Q base R&D is also in contact with domestic investors (Business Angels) and Venture Capital Funds in order to create the network of human resources required at consulting and investment level for the commercial exploitation of the product. It participated in the 12th International Venture Capital & Private Equity Forum held in December 2012 in Athens and in the 3rd Private Equity Forum held in June 2013 in Athens.
