The project concerns the restoration of damages and the improvement of the walkability conditions of footpaths and routes that connect the island's hamlets with sites of natural, cultural and archaeological interest. The routes where interventions took place are:
- Skopelos – Palouki Peak,
- Vatos – Aghia Anna – Taxiarches Monastery,
- Skopelos – Tzilali Spring,
- Palio Klima – Loutraki,
- Loutraki – Glossa.
The interventions concern:
- restoration of all ruined retaining walls
- general cleaning of footpaths from dirt and stone sediments
- removal of shrubbery, branches and other vegetation obstructing free circulation
- identical paving in specially selected 'outlook – rest' locations
- restoration of destroyed stone steps and construction of new ones
- construction of local paving, wooden seats and benches covered by wooden roofs
- signage – informative signs along routes
restoration of the building of the old community of Palio Klima and incorporation thereof in the footpath network.
The project aims at developing alternative forms of tourism, such as hiking tourism, strengthening the island's tourism traffic during winter months, and at promoting the cultural, environmental and archaeological features of the island.
